The million-hour prayer campaign would end quite soon. This prayer movement initially started with a 100-day 24-hour prayer chain. I was moved to launch another prayer chain before the end of this prayer campaign. I was moved in the Spirit but lacked the inner strength to carry out. In July, I traveled to the U.S. and attended the "International Ministry Intensive Training" held by Agape Renewal Ministry. Ed Silvoso, an internationally well-known pastor, was urging the participants to pray for their city and its leaders. My heart was extremely moved. I thought about the Chief Executive of Hong Kong who was not yet a Christian, but the Bible said, "The authorities that exist have been established by God." On the other hand, the media kept on reporting the citizens' dissatisfaction with the Chief Executive. It reflected that our city was in a state of rebellion. There was a real urgent need to intercede for these situations. Even before the handover took place, there were sayings that only the British was unable to effectively govern the people of Hong Kong, as opposed to the people of Hong Kong. We needed to pray and remove this curse, for we believed that "the authorities that exist have been established by God." Before the end of the million-hour prayer campaign, we again launched another 24-hour prayer chain for more than 60 days - "Pray for the Chief Executive and Hong Kong". Below are the contents of the prayer:
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (Isa. 9:6-7)
Abba Father, we thank you for giving us Your beloved son Jesus, so that those who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Lord Jesus, we also thank you for telling us that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to You. You are the King of kings, Lord of Lords, and You are above all things. Father, we also thank you for revealing to us that the word that goes out from Your mouth will not return to You empty, but will accomplish what You desire and achieve the purpose for which Your sent. May the Father give an order that the Hong Kong government will be on Jesus' shoulders, for our Lord God Almighty reigns! Hallelujah!
"And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isa. 9:6b) O Lord, before You all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by You as worthless and less than nothing. But mankind tend to put their trust on themselves, forgetting that wisdom and strength belong to God. We have sinned against our Lord who desires to bestow grace and help us. May the Lord forgive our sins of pride and rebellion against the Lord.
Lord, our city is now trapped in a state of rebellion. Certain citizens show no respect for those in authority, and voice out their disagreements with the government policies. Both sides are constantly in a state of antagonism and wasted time. Much effort and time is wasted and stifled their relationship. We believe authority originates from God and the authorities that exist have been established by God. We ask the Lord to be sovereign over those who are established by Him, that is, those in authority. Let them know that their plans are nothing, and they need to seek wonderful strategies from the Almighty Lord who is the creator of heaven and earth. Lord, our gracious God, may you turn the eyes of those in authority and those established by You to look upon the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Wonderful Counselor. May the wonderful strategies executed by the Lord enable our Chief Executive and the government officials to exhibit wisdom and strategy in their decision-making. May their love for the country and its people demonstrate sincerity and fervency in all their expressions. May they show leadership quality and skills in all their operations. May the "negative" attitude of the citizens toward the government policies become "positive". May their "rebellious" stance toward the government become "supportive". May the Almighty God be in their midst and heal Hong Kong, and to halt all kinds of "stealing" so that we could again show respect and encouragement for one another, rebuilding all that has been destroyed. May the love of the Heavenly Father fill the hearts of the people of Hong Kong, removing hatred so that the hearts of people can again quiet down. The "Prince of Peace" will fill our relationships with His peace. May the kingdom of our Lord God come upon Hong Kong. May the Lord Jesus reign in our midst, teaching us about justice and righteousness. May the kingdom of the Lord be established in Hong Kong forever! The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Thank you Lord. In the Lord Jesus' holy name we pray. Amen.
