After the 100-day 24-hour prayer chain was completed, the Inauguration Ceremony of the "Do This" Million-Hour All Nations Prayer Movement was held on the evening of 31 March 2001 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. This event was co-organized by Jireh Fund and Hong Kong Campus Crusade for Christ. There were close to 7,000 brothers and sisters attending the ceremony that evening.
The meeting began with an opening prayer made by Rev. Fuk-man Cheung. During the meeting, worship and prayer were conducted simultaneously. The 300-person choir was conducted by Dr. Angela Tam while another sister performed a solo as a worship offering to God on behalf of the audience. The worship was led by Mr. Thomas Fok and his worship team. Prayer was led by Mrs. Fan Chan, Dr. Philemon Choi and Dr. Fung-cheung Yim. The prayer was about asking the Lord to kindle our hearts of prayer.
We were honored to invite Rev. Philip Teng to share a message that evening. Rev. Ken Kim-hoi Chan was the interpreter. During various time periods in recent history, Rev. Teng shared how hearts of prayer were kindled in different places around the world including mainland China. He also noted how revivals came that were brought about by prayers. God is concerned with prayers made from faith and commitment.
Mrs. Chan, General Secretary of Jireh Fund, shared the vision of the prayer movement. The evening also featured a broadcast of a video segment of the celebration conference of the first million-hour prayer movement held on October 6. The video also included the prayers answered by God relating to the city's economy and social living, as well as the arrival of the Chief Executive during the meeting. Next, over 20 brothers and sisters of different ages testified to the wonderful work God has done through their prayers. There were testimonies from pastors, elderly, children and women. There were also testimonies about physical healing and healing of broken marriages, which moved the meeting toward a climax. The audience responded with applauses and shouts of joy as they gave glory to God.
We also invited Rev. Gordon Sau-wah Siu and the worship team to lead the audience in singing the theme song of the prayer movement called "Do This". At this time about 10-15 brothers and sisters dressed in traditional clothing of the various minority people groups danced their way out to the stage. Next, 200 choir members with their hands waving the country flags came running toward the stage, symbolizing each group and tribe as they rise up in response to God. It was a touching scene indeed.
The General Secretary of Jireh Fund and chairperson of the Hong Kong Campus Crusade for Christ urged brothers and sisters to rise and respond to God in the following ways:
In the end, Mr. Thomas Fok and the worship team led the audience to sing the final song as a thanksgiving offering to God. The audience was also asked to fill out the feedback form for the meeting. Before the meeting ended, we invited Rev. Ping-kwong Li to give a benediction to the brothers and sisters.
