During a prayer meeting at the United States two years ago (1999), God gave Mrs. Chan (General Secretary of Jireh Fund) an entirely new message that can be used in an evangelistic meeting. The message is "Men can Pray to God" and no one has ever used it in an evangelistic meeting before. This excited her heart at the time and she felt that this was truly a grace that God bestowed upon mankind. Two years later on 31 March, we gave thanks to God for enabling Jireh Fund and Hong Kong Campus Crusade for Christ to co-organize the "Men can Pray to God" evangelistic meeting.
On that day almost 7,000 individuals attended the meeting, including children, elderly and youth. The meeting began with worship led by Mr. Thomas Fok and the worship team, which was set against the backdrop of the stage dancers and the 300-person choir. It is hoped that hearts of the participants will be aroused in their search and hope for God.
The second part of the program was about testimony sharing. Mrs. Jeannie Kwoh shared how she cried to God in the midst of excruciating pains and struggles, and God enabled her to experience His truthfulness and restoration of her family relationships.
Next, Mrs. Chan, General Secretary of Jireh Fund, delivered a powerful message that touched individuals in different ages. First, she identified the varying degrees of anxiety and panic in the hearts of people. However, she shared how people tended to avoid or ignore eternal things. She shared about the talk that Jesus had with the Samaritan woman in chapter four of the Gospel of John. Jesus first identified the needs from the depth of her soul before guiding her to know about God. Next, Mrs. Chan shared how she experienced the truthfulness of "Men can Pray to God" even before she knew the Lord. It was not until 30 and more years later that she learned about the Lord Jesus as the true God.
We give thanks to God for leading the 200 and more participants to accept the Lord. Mr. Hon from the Hong Kong Campus Crusade for Christ helped arrange counseling for the new believers. In addition, each new believer was given a "Prayer Handbook for New Believers" that helped them learn more about the Lord Jesus in the first 30 days of their conversion. May the Lord strengthen the hearts of these new believers, and guide them as they begin their new life as a Christian.
