Last December, I returned to Hong Kong from Canada and stepped into an entirely new sphere of social service. I felt great joy from my work because of my aspirations and the sense of meaning I found in social work. My workload gradually increased with additional administrative work. I felt that there must be a breakthrough and renewal to handle the additional responsibilities. Later I attended a Bible study held by Jireh Fund and listened to a sharing entitled "Each Day has Enough Trouble of its Own". Although I have already heard this biblical verse in the past, it came to me as a great reminder. We needed only ask God to give us the grace for that particular day. In this way I asked God to give me the daily portion of grace after I woke up every morning. Everyday went by peacefully and there was no need to worry about tomorrow. The second message was entitled "Asking for Grace in Hardships". I experienced great difficulties in my case management. I felt I needed a new direction in how I handled the problems. It was a need to ask for grace in times of hardships, and to rely on God to overcome such barriers. The third message was entitled "Relying on God for Joy". I tended to lose joy in the midst of difficulties. However, this message reminded me to go back to God for joy. I could attain great joy when I relied on God. The circumstances might remain unchanged, but we needed to take hold of God's promises as recorded in the Scripture. Everyday we only needed to ask for the daily grace. Even when we are in the midst of difficulties, we can experience joy when we trust in the Lord.
