The "Love and Harmony of God" Prayer Conference of the "Do-This" Million-Hour All Nations Prayer Net was held at 3:45pm on 10 December 2006 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This prayer conference mobilized intercessors in their preparation as they entered into the seventh million-hour prayer. A welcoming speech was first made by the master of ceremonies. Next, a prelude was performed by the orchestra and the choir led the audience in a time of worship. An opening prayer was made by a pastor.
In commemorating the 200th anniversary of Christianity's arrival in China, we have invited Rev. James Hudson Taylor III who is currently the honorary adviser of Overseas Missionary Fellowship to come and present a speech. Rev. James Hudson Taylor III's grandfather was Rev. James Hudson Taylor who was a prominent missionary from England. With the theme "Bringing Love to China", Rev. Taylor recounted the history of two prominent missionaries, Rev. Robert Morrison and Rev. James Hudson Taylor who came to China for mission. He also stated how God has continued to engage in amazing works over the past two hundred years. Currently the mission work of China has metamorphosed from "bringing love to China" into "bringing love from China". He also led the congregation to pray for the gospel work in China.
Next, Rev. Ping-kwong Li came and shared a message stating that only the gospel could bring forth true harmony. This was followed by another message delivered by Dr. Philemon Choi.
Next, a brief video was shown introducing the vision of the "Do This" All Nations Prayer Net. In the previous six million-hour prayers, this vision of prayer has come to various countries. The program was followed by pastors and guests from 15 countries and regions who held their national flags as they entered the meeting hall. This included China, Canada, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macau, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam and Hong Kong. There was a Korean missionary and a Vietnamese pastor who specifically prayed that the prayer handbooks might gain permission to be used in their countries.
The circulation of prayer handbooks has helped many brothers and sisters to establish a prayer habit involving the use of the word of God in their prayers. When the testimonies were shared, many brothers and sisters testified how the word of God and prayer had transformed their lives. An elderly individual and a young boy came on stage and fluently recited Bible verses, and won applauses from the congregation.
Mrs. Chan, General Secretary of Jireh Fund, shared the vision of the All Nations Prayer Net and led the audience in prayer. The audience silently prayed as they awaited the arrival of Mr. Donald Tsang our Chief Executive. When the Chief Executive and other government officials entered the meeting hall, the entire audience welcomed them with a song. Next, a brief video was shown recounting how Hong Kong safely went through various crises since 1997 as a result of the prayers of the believers. These crises included SARS, avian flu, 500,000-people street demonstration, WTO conferences, etc. Next, several senior government officials were invited to come on stage, including Mr. Yat-lung Wong, Mr. Stephen Sui-lung Lam, and a couple other officials. Mr. Wong read the Scripture and Mr. Lam led a prayer. In the end Mrs. Fan Chan, General Secretary of Jireh Fund, led a prayer and asked the Lord to bless those in authority.
Next, several other individuals came on stage and prayed for different items, including praying for past generations, harmony within families, physical and mental health for families, as well as praying for China. Afterwards, Mrs. Chan accompanied the Chief Executive as they walked up the stage and looked at the quilt that was marked with the names of the intercessors. After Mrs. Chan presented a souvenir gift to the Chief Executive, the entire congregation sang as they said farewell to the Chief Executive and other government officials. This section of the program lasted for about 50 minutes.
Next, Dr. Cecil S. O. Chan, the general chairman of the Hong Kong Franklin Graham Festival, prayed for the evangelistic events that were to be held the following year. In the end, Rev. James Hudson Taylor III gave a benediction and the prayer conference came to a close. The seventh million-hour prayer has now officially begun.
