Dr. Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ decided to launch a 24-hour prayer chain before starting the campus ministries. After 50 years of working hard to develop gospel ministries, Dr. Bright in his later years focused on developing the discipline of fasting and prayer. Prayer fully demonstrates the trust that mankind has for God.
Over the past 10 years, Hong Kong faced unusually difficult hardships. The 1997 Asian financial crisis, SARS and avian flu made it the more difficult for the people of Hong Kong. Many Christians united together and prayed for Hong Kong during this difficult time. In the past two years, the economy of Hong Kong saw positive changes and the society began to feel more optimistic toward life. However, beneath this prosperity lied emerging cases of family tragedies, often bringing pains to those around. The family was originally a love nest. If things were not properly handled, family could become the source of difficulties and hardships. From "Rebuilding the City" to "Love and Harmony of God", the All Nations Prayer Movement has responded to the urgent needs arising from the society. Today Hong Kong needs God more than in the past.
The gospel of Jesus Christ not only brought reconciliation between mankind and God, it also helped resolve the hatred among people. Hong Kong needs not only prosperity; it also needs the gospel of Jesus to make its way to all families. May people understand the meaning of life and enjoy the harmony that exists with God and other individuals. May we continue to pray for Hong Kong so that the love of God may enter into every family.
